GATE 2027 Exam Registrations Started

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras started the registrations for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 on September 2, 2026. Eligible students can visit the official GATE website to register for the examination through the portal once the registrations open.

As per the official notification, the registrations for GATE 2027 have been rescheduled from the original date of August 27, 2026. The updated opening    date for registrations has been scheduled on September 2, 2026.

GATE is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology for admissions to postgraduate or doctoral programmes. Students appearing for the examination for admissions to M.Tech/ M.E, M.Sc, M.Arch, and Ph.D courses at premier IIT and IISc institutions and deemed universities. Candidates with a recognized bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, science or architecture are eligible for the GATE examination.

Note: *PwD means Persons with Benchmark Disability. The application fees above are for a single test paper only. The fees for both papers will cost twice the amount of a single paper.

Steps to Register for GATE 2027

Step 1: Visit the official GATE website and click on ‘Apply Now’. 

Step 2: Refer to the instructions provided and select ‘Proceed to GATE 2027 Registration’.

Step 3: Click on ‘Continue with DigiLocker’ under ‘Indian Citizens’.

Step 4: Enter your mobile number and receive the OTP.

Step 5: Enter the OTP to sign in and provide your consent to share your documents.

Step 6: Click on ‘Start Filling GATE 2027 Application Form’ after filling in the declaration.

Step 7: Fill out all the required fields on the application form, upload your required documents, and click on ‘Review & Submit’.

Step 8: Go through the declaration, provide your e-signature and select ‘Submit and Proceed to Payment’.

Step 9: Pay the admission fee on the online payment portal.

Step 10: Download and take a printout of the form for future reference.
