About CISCE:
Ever since its establishment in 1958, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has been on the path to deliver high-quality education to primarily students of Indian origin. Thereby, cultivating a form of empowerment among them towards a fair and just society. With an aim to achieve a sense of equity and balance within the board, CISCE constitutes representatives from various panels. I.e.

The contribution of the CISCE board members towards the growth of education in India has thereby aided the council to be registered as a ‘Society’ under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, in December of 1967. Furthermore, through the Delhi Education Act of 1973, the government of India recognised the Council for Indian School Certification Examinations (CISCE) as an entity that conducts ‘public’ examinations as well.

Responsibilities of the CISCE Board:
Granting affiliations to schools offering up to 12th-grade education
Conducting and regulating Class X (ICSE), Class XII (ISC) and Vocational Education (CVE - 12th) board examinations.
Exercising plans and methods to improve secondary and senior secondary education across CISCE-affiliated schools.
Overseeing the overall decorum of CISCE-affiliated schools/ study centres/ AIS.
Implement rules and regulations concerning the employability of technical, professional and administrative staff.
About ICSE, ISC, and C.V.E:
Amongst the above responsibilities, CISCE primarily functions as a non-governmental national board of school education in India, governing the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination for class X, the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination for class XII and the Certificate of Vocational Education (C.V.E) examination for class XII.
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE):
It is a system of the CISCE board that is formulated to offer examinations which primarily concentrate on general education through the medium of English, with respect to the New Education Policy, 1986. As per the policy, the students are required to study six subjects within the domain of general education along with English as a compulsory subject. Students will also be assessed based on their work in ‘Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service activities’.
Indian School Certificate (ISC):
The ISC structure was designed by the CISCE to focus on specific studies past the ICSE (X) curriculum or its equivalent through the medium of English and in accordance with the New Education Policy, 1986. Candidates who wish to pursue ISC education are required to opt for English mandatorily along with three to five elective subjects. They will also be examined based on their contribution to the ‘Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service’ activities by the school.
Certificate of Vocational Education (C.V.E):
CVE functions as an examination under the guidelines of CISCE. It is a testing framework that is structured based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the Joint Council of Vocational Training (JCVE). The examination is applicable to students who have completed two years of studies post the completion of ICSE (Class X) examination or its equivalent. The examination is taught through the medium of English and was established under the National Policy of Education, 1986.
CISCE Exam Timetable of Class X (ICSE) for A.Y. 2024-25:
Note: An additional duration of 15 minutes is provided as reading time before the commencement of each exam.
For example: Invigilators can distribute the question papers at 10:45 am for an 11:00 am exam.

Note: All the ISC (XII) exams are conducted for 3 hours each. An additional duration of 15 minutes is provided as reading time before the commencement of each exam.
Registration Process (Done by Students/ Parents) for admissions to CISCE-affiliated schools :
The admission process to avail of a seat at various CISCE-affiliated schools in India consists of the following activities.
Procurement of Application form:
Interested candidates must obtain the application from the official website of the school or the school’s office.
Filling up the Application:
Candidates must enter the necessary information (academic & non-academic) and attach the required documents such as a birth certificate, transfer certificate ( If Applicable), passport-size photographs, address proof and any other documents specified by the school in the relevant areas without any mistakes.
Submission of the Application Form:
Students must cross-check the details mentioned in the application form and if correct, must submit it to the concerned authorities. Certain schools will require students to pay a registration/ application fee before submitting the application form.
Entrance Test/ Interview:
Based on the school and grade to which one is applying, candidates might have to clear an entrance test/ Interview as a part of the shortlisting process.
Admission Confirmation:
The shortlisted students will be notified about their admission status via mail or a phone call. Post this, they will have to pay the tuition fee within the time frame allotted by the respective school.
Registration Process (Done by CISCE-affiliated Schools):
CISCE-affiliated schools must register students enrolled in their institutions through an online platform known as the ‘CISCE CAREERS Portal’. The steps involved in doing the same are as follows:
Step 1: The authorised personnel of the school must visit the CAREERS portal.
Step 2: They must enter the registered ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’ and must click on ‘login’.
Step 3: On the Homepage, they must click on ‘e-Registration’.
Step 4: Depending on the candidate’s grade, the authoritarian body must choose either the ICSE or ISC dropdown and choose the ‘Registration’ option.
Step 5: They must go through the instructions and if agreed, must click on ‘Proceed’.
(Note: The updated grade sheet with detailed information on the status of the student will be available)
Step 6: The authorised personnel must go through the sheet and click on ‘Finish’.
Step 7: They must fill in the necessary student information, upload the required documents and click on one of the 3 options. I.e. ‘Save’/ ’Save and Continue’/ ‘Submit to Principal’.
(Note: The ‘Save’ and ‘Save & Continue’ options will save the information entered and arrange it to be reviewed by the candidate. These two options offer a chance to make the changes after the information is saved. However, the ‘Submit to Principal’ option does now allow further changes to be made as it is sent to be reviewed by the Principal).
CISCE Syllabus:
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) regulates the overall aspects of three levels of education. Namely, Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), Indian School Certificate (ISC), and Certificate of Vocational Education (C.V.E) - Year 12. The syllabus of these educational tiers is as follows:

CISCE Board Results:
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) publishes the results of the main ICSE (Class X), ISC (Class XII), and C.V.E (Class XII) board examinations annually. In most cases, the respective board examination results are published by the CISCE-affiliated schools. However, students can also access their results by visiting the official CISCE website. The procedure to do so requires certain steps and they are;
Steps to View/ Download the CISCE (ICSE/ ISC/ CVE) results:
Step 1: Visit the official website of CISCE
Step 2: On the Homepage, click on ‘Results (Year)’
Step 3: Enter your ‘Course’, ‘UID’, ‘Index No,’ and ‘Captcha’ and click on ‘Show Results’.
Step 4: Download and take a printout of the results for future reference.
CISCE Grading System:
The published mark sheet of the students will display the results of the examination as a whole and the grades/ marks received in each subject. Moreover, the CISCE grading system between ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) will vary by a minute margin. I.e.
ICSE Grading System:
The qualifying percentage for each subject is 33%
Grades assigned to each subject will range from 1 to 9 with 1 being the highest and 9 being the lowest.
Grades 1 and 2 imply a ‘Very Good’ score
Grades 3, 4, and 5 imply a ‘Pass with Credit’
Grades 6 and 7 imply a ‘Pass’
Grades 8 and 9 imply a ‘Fail’

For internal assessments with activities such as ‘Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service’, the results are assessed by grades A, B, C, D, and E with A, B, C, or D implying a ‘Pass’ and E implying a ‘Fail’.
ISC Grading System:
The qualifying percentage for each subject is 35%
Grades assigned to each subject will range from 1 to 9 with 1 being the highest and 9 being the lowest.
Grades 1 and 2 imply a ‘Very Good’ score
Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 imply a ‘Pass with Credit’
